The next several months are all about my outdoor artisan and flea market shows! I've built my inventory to meet the demands of the summer season ahead. I'm known for working with a wide variety of materials and this year I'll be featuring even more pieces made with vintage glass beads. The variety of colors, textures and shapes in these beads is outstanding. Wherever I travel or shop for beads, I've always particularly loved seeking vintage beads and have a substantial collection. Violet Amethyst Topaz - Crystal Trio Earrrings This earring design was inspired by a special request for several pairs of earrings similar in style, in different colors and on the short side. This pair combines two purple tones, one bluish - one more red, with a golden topaz shade. Joining the trio of crystals with just a few links of Sterling chain gives a bit of delicate texture to this sweet little earring. Aquarian Earring, Spiral End These sparkling Garnets have a deep claret hue, a color that always makes me think of royalty and Elizabethan times. I chose to frame them with several layered beads of Turkish silver adding to the richness of texture. I hand turned the spiral ends and finished them with Sterling silver lever back earwires. Surfside Vintage Glass Earrings Thinking of the summer ahead, warm sun on the water and shells in the surf, this design came first. Vintage Japanese glass in a lovely speckled blue was meant to be reminiscent of the stone Turquoise, it also reminds me of sparkling sunlight on waves. A sweet little spiral lays against the delicate scallop shells swinging below, these have such crisp detail I love the way the light reflects through them.Finished with a Sterling Silver earwire they are just slightly over 1-1/2" top to bottom. ~ $46.00 |

Paisley Green - Crystal Trio Earrrings I call these Paisley because I remember a fabric my mother made a dress from years ago, it had a sheen to it and a bit of a paprika red as well as the hues used here. The largest crystal in this trio is in one of my favorite shades, Palace Green Opal, accompanied with both cool, pale emerald green and deep, golden topaz for richness and depth. Siesta Key Earrings Vintage Glass Vintage Japanese glass in sugary white, like the sands on Siesta Key, are combined with opal aqua Swarovski crystal. These colors are perfect for the summer season and with a minimum of detail are easy to wear with casual attire or something a little dressy. Garnet Blossom Earring I love the lacy floral shape of this Turkish silver link and decided it was just the right thing to combine with these sweet Garnet discs, facets along each edge catch and reflect the light ever so gently. Garnets can sometimes have such a deep tone that they almost appear to be black. Due to the slender shape of these beads, the fruity burgundy color really shines through. Berry Swing Earring I love to find unusual ways to incorporate beads into my designs, this graceful swing earring is one of my favorites. Soft opal tones with reflected fiery warmth, appear to float over the wine colored base.This photo does a good job of showing of the variety of hues that can be found in borosilicate glass. Blade Green Medley - Charm Bracelet Fresh, bright and crisp are the grassy shades of green in this fun bracelet. Czech glass, in two shapes, catch the light with tri-cut planes and reflective metallic coatings. Elliptical Ornament Earrings The warm underlying tones of claret, wine and plum are swirled with opal-like blues and greens. Surrounding the inner colored layer of is a thick band of crystal clear borosilicate glass, giving these an other worldly feel. Hip Halo Tourmaline Earrings The first of the Hip Halo designs features sweet circles, tiny curlicues and spring blossom hues. Embellished with numerous wraps of gold-filled wire and a short length of rolo chain, five faceted Tourmaline beads in blush pink, wine and leaf green swing across the bottom. These are light weight and move gracefully when worn. Handle Halo Tourmaline and Freshwater Pearl Earring Second in a new design series, gold-filled wire forms a charming loop and joins a ring alongside two curvaceous handle-like tendrils. A compact yet detailed design with a full range of colors makes these a very versatile pair of earrings. Tourmalines in palest yellow, pink and blue are accompanied by the slightly deeper hues of raspberry pink and moss green in framing a softly glowing pearl. Wildflower - Slice Drop Earrings A memory of wild purple asters and goldenrods, that used to grow near my grandmother's cottage, inspired this combination of furnace glass and crystal. These glass beads are made with exceptional care and quality, a true art in itself. The slice at the bottom has an unusual off-center hole, making it perfect to swing and reflect the light. Faceted Multicolor Tourmaline Pendant Necklace Lovely, lovely Tourmaline, with such varied colors I could not resist creating a piece to display the rainbow they become when grouped together. To create the framework for the abacus like grid of stones, I formed heavy gold-filled wire and wrapped it with a very fine gauge of the same wire. Gold-filled beads in both matte and shiny finishes are all that I needed to complement these sparking faceted rounds. The oval pendant is suspended from a oval link gold-filled chain and is secured with a spring ring clasp making it adjustable in size with a maximum length of 18-1/2". The pendant itself is an additional 1-3/4" long. Silver Cloud Aquamarine Necklace I've had this hammered Sterling silver oval for a couple of years but this is the first time I used it in a horizontal fashion. Using a very fine gauge Sterling wire, I wrapped the lower portion of the oval. This allowed me to incorporate tiny Freshwater pearls and lengths of Sterling chain, perfect for some tiny drops. These micro faceted Aquamarines, in soft blue, gray and green hues, have a sweetly rounded rain drop shape. The link pattern of the Sterling chain has a light, lacy look and there are three more of the tiny pearls on each side leading down to the pendant. Finished with a Sterling spring ring clasp, the length is adjustable from with a maximum length of 17", the oval and drops are an additional 1-1/4" long. ~ $110.00 SOLD, that was the last one. Cool Trio - Blown Glass Bead Bracelet Multi-hued in shades of blue, green and purple, these beads are quite unusual both in color and shape. Cherry Grape Twist - Furnace Glass Bracelet Cherry and grape, rose and violet, cerise and purple, whatever words you use to describe these colors, I think you'll agree that they are both vibrant and fruity! The fluted texture appears to have the liquid quality of melting ice. The Turkish silver beads used as accents here have a shape that rather reminds me of raspberries, perfect for this fruitful design! Cosmo Jet - Cluster Cap Earrings This dramatic earring has a most unusual feature, the largest crystal appears to have transparent windows. To create this effect, the bead was made with a crystal clear center encased in jet black crystal. The faceting process took away some of the outer black layer exposing the clear interior. I topped them with a frilly cap of tiny jet crystals, and one slightly larger crystal on the earwire. Measuring a petite 1-1/8" these are $46.00. |
